TASTING NOTES OF HERDADE DAS SERVAS ALFROCHEIRO

Clear, deep violet red wine, with aromas of plum, black cherry, fig, chocolate, spices and also floral notes of violets. Complex, structured, full-bodied and fresh, with some hints of toast from barrel ageing, smoked notes, rich tannins and long finish, this wine has excellent potential for storage and ageing.

Serve at a temperature of 16-18ºC. Decanting is recommended.

The grapes were sorted manually, destemmed and underwent pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation itself was carried out in “Lagares” and stainless steel vats with temperature control.

In 21 years of production at Herdade das Servas, there have only been 5 editions of Vinhas Velhas (2005, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2015). Old vines keep their own time, which is why this wine is only produced in years when they present truly perfect conditions.
In 1996/1997, chip budding was done on our old vines to allow us to grow different varieties on old rootstock.
