Garrafeira 2015

TASTING NOTES

Clear wine, garnet color. Aromas of spice, cocoa and licorice. In the mouth it is complex and intense with an elegant and persistent aftertaste, revealing the aging potential.

VITICULTURE

The vineyards are planted on red clay soils with underlying brown or crystalline limestone, with some schist outcrops. They thrive under a Mediterranean climate, with large thermal fluctuations and hot, dry Summers.

After the green interventions, necessary during the growing season, the grapes were harvested manually and transported to the winery in boxes.

WINEMAKING

After total stemming, foot treading was carried out in a marble press for 48 hours, in order to enhance pre-fermentation skin contact.

Fermentation took place in 10 new French oak spin barrels, with a capacity of 500L, followed by two weeks of tanning.

AGEING

The aging took place for 24 months, in new 225L French oak barrels.
